  • Psalm 91

vs 1 - He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

vs 13 - You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

vs 15 - He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

This entire chapter is fantastic. Lately, I've been hearing several people talk about it and it has reminded me of how much I love it.

A quick story: Several years ago, when I was just out of high school, my aunt Lora called to talk to my dad. He wasn't home, but Lora and I continued to chat about what was going on in life and so on. Before too long she, being the wonderful woman of God that she is, was giving me all kinds of encouragement about my future and the direction that I was unsure about. She was quoting scripture left and right. I had to rush to find a paper and pen to start jotting some of them down. After a while, she asked me if I'd ever read Psalm 91. At the time, I couldn't remember ever having read it. So she asked if she could read it over me like a prayer. Of course I said yes. When she read it though, she put my name in the place of where it says 'he'.
"Thomas, who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Thomas will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." She started out. And as she continued to claim this passage for me and over me I was so empowered and secured by the trust that I felt in God.
Now everytime I read Psalm 91 I think of my aunt Lora and that day God used her to speak into my life. And I often still read it putting my name in.

  • So, since I hardly ever use this I thought I might put it to better use by journaling my daily bible reading feedback. How bout that? On with the writing...

    Hebrews 5:2-3
2He [the high priest] is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. 3This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.

Just gets me to thinking about how spiritual leaders need to be extra careful about keeping their daily walk with the Lord and being constantly in prayer because the enemy will come more heavily against them. Just the weight of other peoples sin (or even their problems they share with you) can bring one down.

As Spider Man's uncle says, "With great power comes great responsibility." And isn't their a scripture that says, "To whom much is given, much is required."? I couldn't find it.

  • Best Spy Movies

    1. Bourne Identity
    2. Bourne Supremacy
    3. Mission Impossible I
    4. Mission Impossible III
    5. Spy Game
    6. The Saint

*Yes, Mission Impossible II was not included on purpose. It sucked.
*No Bond movies are listed because... well, they're different.

Help me remember any/all other great spy movies. I've decided I love spy movies.

About Me

  • I plan to go to 6 of the 7 continents by the time I'm 25. And I'm hoping to find a way to hit the 7th by the time I'm 30. By that time I hope to be near-fluent in 2 more languages. And I love Jesus. He saves me from my sin filled evil life.
